World-renowned creative project Little Amal has arrived in Belfast ahead of a four day tour of the city as part of its Belfast 2024 programme.

Little Amal is a striking 12-foot tall puppet of a ten-year-old Syrian refugee, who represents all children fleeing war, violence and persecution.

Her visit to Belfast is presented by The Walk Productions, in association with Handspring Puppet Company and local partner ArtsEkta.

Amal arrived into the city via the River Lagan at Donegall Quay to hundreds of excited families enjoying the atmosphere.

A free outdoor concert then took place at Custom House Square following the puppet's arrival.

Amal will tour the city this weekend and will appear at the following places in the coming days:

Friday 17 May – Amal’s Dream at St Anne’s Cathedral – doors from 7.45pm, show 8pm-10pm

Saturday 18 May – May Queen procession in Belfast city centre – from 12.30pm, followed by Lord Mayor’s Day celebrations at City Hall (12pm-5pm)

Sunday 19 May – tree planting at Colin Glen Forest Park (11am), followed by finale event at Belfast Castle/Cave Hill (7pm-9pm)
