And SunSport can reveal Barron, 21, is in line to be one of his shock wildcard picks for the glamour event.

Last week we told how Liverpool’s Ben Doak was being considered for a sensational call-up.

But the 18-year-old Anfield starlet is not the only young player in contention to be on the plane for Germany.

It’s emerged Barron is one of the uncapped rookies who has caught the eye of Clarke with his stand-out performances for a struggling Dons team this season.

Clarke’s No 2 John Carver was at Easter Road on Sunday to see Barron turn in a man of the match display in a 4-0 win over Hibs.

He could now be fast-tracked into the full squad after making just three appearances for Scot Gemmill’s Under-21s.

It’s NOT yet certain he’ll be picked.

The SFA are doing their Fitness for Duty checks on the availability of all the players who could be selected next week.

That usually sees them send out requests for more names than make the final cut with a handful of players left gutted to miss out at the 11th hour.

But it’s believed Barron is currently one of the names being discussed as a possibility.

It would be a huge boost for the midfielder, who is out of contract at Aberdeen at the end of the season.

A number of clubs are interested in snapping him up, including serious interest from Serie A outfits in Italy.

Bologna are one of the clubs keeping tabs on his situation. That could see him team up with Lewis Ferguson, the player he could potentially replace at the Euros after the ex-Aberdeen ace’s recent ACL knee injury.

And being picked for the Scotland squad would only raise Barron’s profile as the Pittodrie ace weighs up his next move.
