Pink Floyd’s storied guitarist David Gilmour is returning to U.S. stages for the first time in eight years. He announced a special series of North American tour dates earlier this week to promote his upcoming album, “Luck and Strange.” The tour originally included a two-night stay at the Hollywood Bowl on Oct. 29-30. But due to overwhelming demand, a third show has been added for Thursday, Oct. 31.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer will kick off his U.S. gigs in Los Angeles, followed by four dates at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Nov. 4-6 and Nov. 9. While his U.S. run is brief, Gilmour will also grace European stages with a limited series of performances. The European leg kicks off at Rome’s Circo Massimo on Sept. 27-29 and Oct. 1-3, culminating with shows at London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall on Oct. 9-11 and Oct. 14-15.

He will be joined by a live band featuring Guy Pratt, who famously played with Gilmour in Pink Floyd from ’87-’94, on bass and background vocals. The band also includes Greg Phillinganes and Rob Gentry on keyboards, Adam Betts on drums, Ben Worsley on guitar, and Louise Marshall, Hattie Webb, and Charlie Webb on background vocals.

Pratt, Betts, and Gentry are all contributors on the album. “Luck and Strange” is also a family affair, featuring lyrics by Gilmour’s wife, novelist and lyricist Polly Samson, as well as their son Charlie. The album’s title track features a 2007 jam sesh recorded with Pink Floyd’s late keyboardist Richard Wright who died in 2008.

Tickets for the general public will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, May 17 at Ticketmaster.com. Pre-sale option tickets for the Gilmour Fan Club are on sale now. A Hollywood Bowl pre-sale is now on sale with the code GILMOUR at hollywoodbowl.com.

“Luck and Strange,” Gilmour’s first solo record since 2015’s “Rattle That Lock,” is set to release on Sept. 6. “The Piper’s Call,” released on April 25, serves as the album’s debut single.
