Two portable toilets were set alight in Cambridge on Thursday (May 16). Firefighters were called to the blaze on Cherry Hinton Road at 7.08pm.

A crew from Cambridge arrived at the scene to find two portable toilets on fire. A Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "At 7.08pm on Thursday (16) a crew from Cambridge was called a fire in the open on Cherry Hinton Road in Cambridge.

"Firefighters arrived to find two portaloos on fire. The crew used a hose reel to extinguish the fire and returned to their station by 8.05pm."

The fire is believed to have been started deliberately. The fire service spokesperson added: "Anyone with information should contact police by visiting www.cambs.police.uk to submit an online report or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111."

A photograph of the aftermath of the fire shows the loos completely melted onto the ground.
