The advent of rookies this season clearly has been positive for the women’s division of professional basketball. The unprecedented support and the surge in popularity were imperative when the 2024 edition of the draft received a whopping 2.5 million TV rating. Heading into the second week of the regular season, the question arising in most of the minds is how to keep this momentum going. Providing a clearer picture in this regard is the 3x WNBA champion, Alysha Clark.

The 2023 WNBA Sixth Player of the Year recently shed some light on how the WNBA can sustain the craze of women’s basketball because of the new draftees. In an interview with TJ Sports, she expressed, “All these things that are falling into place are for long-term deals and not just like one or two years. There have been so many different narratives in this offseason, but the reality is we’ve been planting these seeds for the last two decades understanding the product that is here. Understanding the talent and the caliber of players that are here.”

Further, Clark also pointed out that the arrival of rookies like Angel Reese, Caitlin Clark, and Cameron Brink has brought a lot of attention and has also opened some new avenues for some new sponsorship deals. In addition to this, proper implementation and showcasing of their skills and talent on different platforms will help in further growth of the sport by bringing more attention to the hardwood.
