Four quick-fire second-half tries see 14-man Lions beat Glasgow
Glasgow missed the chance to move back to the top of the United Rugby Championship after going down 44-21 to the 14-man Lions in Johannesburg.

The Warriors saw their six-match winning run in the competition ended by the Bulls last weekend and were unable to capitalise on Ruan Venter’s first-half dismissal.
A bonus-point victory for the Lions, who scored four quick-fire second-half tries, kept alive their hopes of reaching the play-offs.
Gianni Lombard missed a brace of penalties on either side of the Lions losing Emmanuel Tshituka to a head injury assessment inside the opening 11 minutes.
Glasgow then took the lead a minute later when Kyle Rowe crossed after running on to a kick through by George Horne, who added the extras, with Ruan Venter – a replacement for Tshituka – sin-binned for an infringement in the build-up to the try.
Jordan Hendrikse’s penalty got the Lions on the board and they moved in front when Rabz Maxwane went over after being sent in by Erich Cronje, although Hendrikse was unable to convert.
But the home side suffered a double blow prior to half-time as first Venter was sent off for contact to the head of Glasgow’s Tom Jordan and then Francke Horn was sent to the sin bin for a deliberate knock-on.

Glasgow took advantage six minutes into the second half when Euan Ferrie powered his way over the line, with Horne again converting.
However, four tries in a devastating 11-minute spell saw the Lions take control.
An outstanding individual try from Edwill van der Merwe, who ran on to his chip over the top to go over with Sanele Nohamba making no mistake from the tee, was followed by another free-flowing score which was finished off by Maxwane, with Nohamba again converting.
JC Pretorius and Nohamba added further scores, the latter converting on each occasion and also landing a penalty late on, before Josh McKay grabbed a third try for Glasgow and Duncan Weir kicked the extras.
But replacement Hanru Sirgel claimed the sixth and final try for the Lions as they registered a fifth win in seven URC matches.

His deficiencies in defence must be major and beyond rebuilding because on attack he has a unique set of skills matched only by a combination of Mark Telea, Shaun Stevenson and Etene Nanai Seturo. His aerial and kicking game is next level and he displays a contempt for one on one situations. We've become obsessed with our no. 11 being a power weapon ignoring the better multi faceted option. Mark Telea is helping to change that mind set, Salesi Rayasi would advance that too.

Consultants just going to charge them thousands for the privilege of telling them that the brain drain is hurting them, they played like pork chops & maybe some insights gleaned from reading the various rugby blog posts with a couple of graphs thrown in to dicky the report up. My suggestion is they forego the consultants and get a subscription to watch the URC, English Premiership, Top14 and EPCR competitions so that they can learn a bit from all the players and coaches that have left already NZ.

What concerns me slightly is the the PWR league in England has become the breeding ground for other countries’ players with nearly half of Canada’s team playing there. Long term sustainability of good international teams depends on developing their own leagues and systems. They cannot rely upon England forever.

Its a pointless argument. Even using the eg of McCaw and Carter. One is a back, the other a forward. 2 totally different skill sets. Impossible to compare. Does a player need to win gold to be considered a ‘GOAT’ or is his skill evaluated independently of trophies ? And why compare Dupont, still at the start/mid of his career with 2 players with 150 caps each (approx) ? are Gareth Edwards and Pinetree Meads and Danie Gerber and David Campese not considered because they were amateurs ? Maybe let Dupont have his career first. And then compare him with others in his position, only.

Ross may well have been offside but he had no influence on that phase of play. Its a pity O’Keefe is not Australian and then he would not be reffing the Wallabies - at least we are saved from Berry!

There was no need at all to shove Davids and if he hadn’t, his team would’ve had 15 players on the field for the entire match. How does it feel to be the probable cause for your team not qualifying for next season’s Champions Cup? Hmm Marius, how does it feel?
