Ododo tasks wealthy individuals on education, promises support for Ebira trust fund

Kogi state governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has charged well meaning individuals, corporate organizations to complement government effort by contributing their quota to the development of education in the state.

Governor Ododo gave the charge during the 2nd Ebira Education Summit / fund raising organized by Ebira Education Trust Fund Limited in collaboration with Ebira Youth Congress at Reverton Hotel in Lokoja on Saturday.

According to him, Kogi state Government in the last eight years was passionate in providing quality education at all level in the areas of provision of infrastructure and engagement of qualified teachers, maintaining that the immediate past administration had laid a solid foundation in the sector.

The Governor who was represented by the Director-General Government House , Dr Oricha Shuaibu described education promised that his administration will consolidate on the laudable achievements recorded by former governor Yahaya Bello in the education sector, urging well meaning individuals and corporate organizations to contribute their quota toward the education of the youth in the state.

Governor Ododo said “Education should be a collective responsibility of all and sundry. As government we are working hard to ensure that we provide quality education at all levels for our youth and we have commenced the process of issuing bursary awards to Kogi students in tertiary institutions.

“I am assuring the trust fund that the pledge of #300 million made by the state government in 2020 will be redeemed to enable it carry out it’s laudable programmes of assisting the less privilege to pursue their education without stress”

While commmending the Ebira Youth Congress for organizing the event, Governor Ododo assured that his administration would leave no stone unturn in ensuring that the children of the poor have access to quality education to make them better leaders in future.

In his remarks, the Chairman Board of Directors , Ebira Education Trust Fund Ltd , Prof. Muhammed Salihu Audu who described education as the hallmark of global development, maintained that the birth of a unifying Trust Fund for Kogi central orphans and indigent youths has been a huge relief for the less privilege in the district.

The university don appealed to those who made pledges towards award of scholarships for masters and doctor of philosophy students at the first summit of the trust fund in 2020 to redeem the pledges without further delay

Also in his remarks, the chairman of the occasion Dr Abdullahi Ozomata urged well meaning Ebira sons and daughters both at home and in diaspora to contribute toward the development of education in Ebira land.
