Manchester United fans have sent a clear-cut message about Sofyan Amrabat after the Fiorentina loanee’s performance against Premier League side Brighton on Sunday.

The Red Devils signed off their Premier League campaign with a hard-fought 2-0 victory against Brighton at the Amex.

Diogo Dalot broke the deadlock deep into the second half before Rasmus Hojlund, who came off the bench, scored Manchester United’s second of the contest.

However, United will end the Premier League season in eighth place after Newcastle beat Brentford 4-2 and Chelsea picked up a 2-1 win over Bournemouth.

Erik ten Hag’s men have ended the season with back-to-back Premier League wins, having beaten Newcastle 3-2 at Old Trafford during the midweek.

While the Red Devils’ lacklustre Premier League campaign is over, United boss Erik ten Hag will now turn his attention to the FA Cup final on 25th May.

Ten Hag has reached his second consecutive FA Cup final as United manager, having fallen short of the trophy to Manchester City in 2023.

The Red Devils now have the opportunity to avenge their FA Cup defeat against Manchester City on Saturday, but Ten Hag’s men face an uphill battle to secure a win.

Amrabat starts for Man Utd vs Brighton

Sofyan Amrabat started his third consecutive Premier League match for Manchester United after partnering alongside Kobbie Mainoo for the Brighton clash.

The 27-year-old midfielder impressed United fans on Wednesday after putting in a solid showing against Newcastle at Old Trafford.

Amrabat arrived at the Premier League club last summer after United signed him on loan from Fiorentina, with the option to make the deal permanent for £21.4m.

The Fiorentina loanee has failed to put together consistent performances in a United shirt this season and has been limited to sporadic appearances under Erik ten Hag.

Amrabat has featured in 20 Premier League matches for United – with 10 appearances coming in the starting XI – without scoring or assisting for the club.

The Morocco international underwhelmed against Brighton and looked completely off pace at the Amex in United’s final Premier League match of the season.

Despite a torrid first-half display, Amrabat was kept on the pitch after the break, continued to play in the second half and didn’t improve as the match went on.

Amrabat was eventually withdrawn by Ten Hag and replaced by United defender Raphael Varane, who will leave Old Trafford this summer, in the 69th minute.

Man Utd fans react to Amrabat’s performance

United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, were in agreement over two important points over Amrabat after the Brighton match.

Some Red Devils supporters called for Amrabat to not start against City in the FA Cup final, while other United fans do not want him to be signed permanently.

“Amrabat, this might be the worst performance ever,” one fan said.

Someone else posted: “I am willing to personally drive Amrabat back to Florentina.”

Another wrote: “Amrabat played himself out of a cup final place today, I think.”

“Amrabat saw people saying that we should sign him permanently and decided to play his way into the Al Hilal midfield,” a fourth added.

While a fifth tweeted: “Amrabat putting in the worst performance of any player this season my word send him back in economy tonight.”

And a sixth commented: “Sofyan Amrabat should not follow Manchester United to Wembley for the FA Cup final. He should be returning to Fiorentina on that day.”

“Amrabat, that [first]-half performance is the reason you are being shipped back to Fiorentina,” somebody else said.

An eighth simply suggested: “Amrabat is a liability. He absolutely cannot play in the FA Cup final. City will be all over him.”
