Heartbreaking tributes have been left for a young man who was stabbed to death in a "bloodbath attack" in Glasgow.

Brian Gough, 27, was knifed by two men outside a bookmakers on Saracen Street, Possil, at around 5pm on Saturday.

He was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he later died. Police have launched a murder investigation to catch his attackers.

A police cordon remained in place on Monday. Officers could be seen stationed across from the scene where the fatal attack took place.

Nearby, grieving mourners left floral tributes and a Rangers strip on the street .

One note left at the scene, alongside a bunch of flowers, read: "A life too short, a grieving too long, for a life lost for a young man of Possilpark. Never Forgotten."

Describing Brian as 'Molly's Golden Boy' another note read: "Our heartfelt sorrow for you and your family. Much love to all you from Paul Mac's family."

A Rangers top and teddy bear were left by Brian's devastated colleagues at Eco Deck Scotland.

A message on the shirt read: "To Big Brian, We are all going to miss you brother. Until we meet again. Love from all the lads at Eco Deck."

Devastated pals took to social media to pay tribute to Brian, who was described as "one the nicest guys you could meet".

Alana Donachie wrote: "Absolutely gutted.

"So thankful to have so many many memories, young and old. I can’t believe this at all. Rest in peace, Brian."

Jenn Begley said: "Rip Brian. Such a cruel world, so young and his full life ahead of him. "Thinking of all the Gough family at this sad time."

Jamie Higgins said: "Brother fly high - legends never die, there’s only one Brian Gough."

Arren Molloy: "Rest in peace Brian. One of the nicest guys you could ever meet."

Jae Connor added: "You were one in a million."

Detectives have launched a witness appeal to identify the two suspects.

The first man is described as white, in his 30s, wearing a light blue top and black shorts. The second suspect is white, also in his 30s and wearing a white top with black shorts and back trainers.Officers are gathering and reviewing CCTV from the local area. A police presence will remain visible over the coming days.

Detective Inspector Lesley-Ann McGee said: “It was a warm, sunny day yesterday and there were lots of people out enjoying the weather in Saracen, I am asking them to get in touch with us with any information that could assist us in establishing the motive for this attack.

If you saw, heard or know anything please contact us. I’m also asking people with dash cam or doorbell recording equipment to check for any footage that could assist our investigation. A family is mourning the loss of a loved one and it’s imperative we are able to answer how their loved one died.”
