Former Celtic goalkeeping star ‘allowed to leave’

Ex-England and Celtic goalkeeper Fraser Forster is set to depart Tottenham Hotspur this summer after being reportedly being made available for transfer by head coach Ange Postecoglou.

The goalkeeper, who was popular with Celtic fans during each of his three spells in Glasgow, won seven trophies during his time at Celtic Park and was twice named as the club’s player of the season. However, he is yet to make a league appearance for his current since the arrival of the Australian head coach in the summer.

Now 36, Forster is expected to depart current club this summer after being named on a lengthy list of players that journalist Paul O Keefe believes the club are prepared to dispose. Ex-Hoops head coach Postecoglou is understood to be eyeing a summer revamp after a disappointing end to their campaign saw them lose five of their last seven matches.

Celtic are in the market for a new No 1, with Joe Hart retiring at the end of the season.

Rangers ‘will never be a perfect team’ admits forward

Scott Wright believes Rangers must head into this weekend’s Scottish Cup final against Celtic with confidence.

The ex-Aberdeen forward returned to the starting line up for Sunday’s season finale against Hearts but admitted the 3-3 draw at Tynecastle felt more like an audition for a starting spot against the Hoops.

“We need to go into the game with positivity, have confidence and belief that we can get a result,” admitted Wright. “It’s a cup final and whether it’s a pretty game or not you just want to come away with the trophy.

“There is so much competition for places at a club like this. Whether that’s from the start or to come on. This is probably like an interview for the game next week and we are all playing for a spot. I’m just trying to work on my game, I came back into the team in the Dundee game, I managed to get two goals and obviously that is something I am trying to add to my game, to get more goals.

“We are never going to be the perfect team, we never want to be the perfect team because we will always keep striving to be better, in terms of being more clinical in front of goal that is something we can go away and look at and work on.”
