Mikel Arteta used video footage to call out the body language of his Arsenal stars after they lost to Fulham on New Year's Eve.

The defeat at Craven Cottage was during the team's worst spell of the season. Their reverse in west London came just days after West Ham had beaten them at the Emirates and their Spanish coach sought to address some issues he didn't like.

Arteta is a big believer in body language and wasn't a fan of the way his players were reacting after they missed chances. As a result he clipped up a host of his players in the moments after they spurned opportunities to score and wanted to see a change, as per the Evening Standard.

The Gunners boss claimed their loss to Fulham was their "worst performance of the season." Arsenal have no prolific marksman in their squad, but they still went on to score the second most goals in the Premier League and after their lacklustre showing at Craven Cottage went on to enjoy a purple patch.

Their next game saw them hammer Crystal Palace 5-0 at the Emirates. In the six games after that they put four past Newcastle, five past Burnley and six past both West Ham and Sheffield United.

Kai Havertz ended the season playing in a false 9 role, which he took up after a slow start following his summer switch from Chelsea. The German finished the season with 14 goals and seven assists, having found the net just once in the opening three months of the campaign.

Havertz finished as the team's second highest scorer, behind Leandro Trossard and Bukayo Saka, who led the way with 20. The Gunners improved on last season's showing, coming up with their second highest points tally in Premier League history, but still ended as runners-up to Manchester City.

Arsenal also missed out on the Champions League, losing to a Bayern Munich side that many felt were there for the taking. The German have endured a poor season by their standards but lost the second-leg at the Allianz Arena, that came just days after losing to Aston Villa.

Some inside the club were worried the squad was burning out. Arsenal though went on to win their final six games of the season, including the north London derby, which allowed them to take the title race to the final day.
