Iowa State football's 2020 recruiting class got a whole lot bigger Thursday.

Literally.

Tyler Miller, a 6-foot-9 offensive tackle out of Greene County, committed to the Cyclones over offers from Purdue, Nebraska, Central Florida, Minnesota, Cincinnati and South Dakota State.

"It just felt right," Miller told the Register.

Greene County OT Tyler Miller (66) is committed to Iowa State.

The in-state product is a consensus three-star prospect. Rivals ranks Miller the top 2020 prospect in Iowa. 247Sports ranks him fifth in Iowa and No. 691 overall. Miller was an honorable mention on the Register's Iowa Eight for football this season.

Miller is Iowa State's third 2020 recruit, joining three-star Minnesota quarterback Aidan Bouman and three-star Central Decatur linebacker Cole Pedersen.

Taller offensive tackles can sometimes have leverage disadvantages against smaller, quicker defensive ends. The flipside, though, is that Miller's yawning length and wingspan — combined with his nimble athleticism — form a prospect with considerable upside.

Off the field, Miller is well-regarded among high school prospects in Iowa. He is particularly close to Josh Volk and Blaise Gunnerson, two fellow three-star, in-state linemen that Iowa State has offered.
