Deontay Wilder accuses Tyson Fury of cocaine use at chaotic meeting ahead of WBC showdown

DEONTAY WILDER has accused Tyson Fury of behaving like he’d taken cocaine before their heated press conference this week.

Wilder vs Fury: FIGHT breaks out at press conference

The pair had their penultimate face-off before Sunday morning’s WBC heavyweight title fight at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, the venue for the multi-million-pound bout.

As expected, the giant heavyweights traded verbal jabs with one another, with Wilder repeatedly vowing to add Fury’s name to his long list of victims.

Fury was his usual jokey self and full of energy, which Wilder suggested was the result of him taking a cocaine prior to the media event getting underway.

“This time, when Saturday comes, you’ve got a different beast in the ring, baby,” the reigning WBC heavyweight champion said. “You’ve got a different mentality, a different culture. We come from two different places. We come from two different worlds, man."

Fury quickly interjected, saying: “I can see that by the way you’re dressed, son.”

“And I can’t wait to put these hands on you,” . “And you already know!

"It seems that you’ve got some of that sugarcane (a nickname for cocaine) under your nose right now the way you act, baby."

Fury laughed off Wilder’s taunt, shouting: “Woo! Maybe, maybe. Don’t knock it until you try it, pal. Don’t knock it.”

“Don’t worry,” Wilder said as Fury continued to try get under his skin. “I’ma be your rehab and I’ma show you.”

Fury’s battles with addiction have been well documented during his road to back to the ring.

And in an interview with Rolling Stone in October 2016, the Wythenshawe native openly admitted to regularly taking cocaine.

"I’ve done lots of cocaine. Lots of it,” he said when discussing his failed drug test in September 2016. “Why shouldn’t I take cocaine? It’s my life, isn’t it? I can do what I want.

“Yeah, I have done cocaine. Plenty of people have done cocaine as well. What the f**k has that got to do with anything? That ain’t a performance-enhancing drug.

“ Am I not allowed to have a life now as well? Do they want to take my personal life off me too? I’ve not been in a gym for months. I’ve not been training.

“I’ve been going through depression. I just don’t want to live anymore, if you know what I’m saying. I’ve had total enough of it.

“They’ve forced me to the breaking edge. Never mind cocaine. I just didn’t care. I don’t want to live anymore. So cocaine is a little minor thing compared to not wanting to live anymore.”

Fury has battled back from the depths of depression and a suicide attempt to land himself another world title shot.

And after having overcome that mountain, ‘The Gypsy King’ is confident he’ll have his hand raised early on Sunday morning.

“On Saturday I’m going to punch Wilder’s face in for him,” the 29-year-old said.

"I’ve heard a lot of people say, ‘Wilder by knockout or Fury on points’. But I’m telling you now, Wilder’s going to get knocked out by me.”

Wilder vs Fury prediction

Meanwhile, former British heavyweight Lennox Lewis believes Fury will take the win.

"If it goes the distance then it belongs to Tyson Fury," said Lewis.

"If it's a short fight it will belong to Deontay Wilder.

“This is an epic and most unpredictable showdown. I can't wait for this fight."
