Wilder vs Fury CONTROVERSY: Tyson Fury demands face-off cancelled at weigh-in

TYSON FURY does not want a face-off at today’s weigh-in with heavyweight opponent Deontay Wilder.

Wilder vs Fury: FIGHT breaks out at press conference

That is according to the ‘Gypsy King’ himself.

Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder nearly came to blows yesterday when they met at the final press conference ahead of their mega-fight in Los Angeles.

And Fury says that he doesn’t want that happening again.

“There should be no face-off at the weigh-in and if it comes to fisticuffs then let’s have it,” he said.

“I will not wait until Saturday if he gets in my face before.

“If I’m provoked then I have to retaliate, hitting me is the worst thing anyone can ever do.”

The two heavyweight brutes got in each other’s faces at yesterday’s press conference and caused a melee after Wilder moved his hand toward Fury’s eyes.

It is understood that extra security will be in place at today’s weigh-in to ensure the same thing doesn’t happen again.

Fury, though, for all his fighting words and outlandishness, seemed apologetic about yesterday’s episode.

“I am quite embarrassed about what happened on Thursday,” the 30-year-old said.

“It was unsporting conduct with everyone watching around the world and I would like to take the opportunity to apologise on both our behalves.

“It was not how sportsmen should be.”

Both Wilder and Fury are undefeated, having amassed 67 wins between them.

The ‘Gypsy King’ noted this - and spoke about how Wilder might be feeling.

“It got out of hand but it was two unbeaten fighters who want to win, badly,” he continued.

“Deontay Wilder is obviously nervous and rattled and he felt the need to get in my face”

Wilder looked a visibly angry figure at yesterday’s press conference - continually jawing at Fury’s face before things got ugly.
