Strictly Come Dancing's Adam Peaty has issued a "stern" warning to viewers questioning whether he nearly kissed his dance partner.

Fans of the show were sent into meltdown after the Olympian's fiery Argentine tango on Saturday night with Katya Jones.

The passionate routine ended with the two staring into each other's eyes - which led Twitter users to speculate if they were about to share a kiss.

One widely shared tweet said: “Did Adam just go to kiss Katya and then remember they’re on TV?!" - as Mirror Online reports.

The Olympian is currently in a relationship with Eiri Munro and he hit out at anyone spreading rumours by warning how their "comments have real life consequences."

He tweeted: "To everyone who wants to see what they want, your comments have real life consequences. I will not be overcome or lowered by your gossip."

He continued: "Protect your energy."

Adam shares a one-year-old son with Eiri - and his girlfriend issued her own tongue in cheek response to the rumour.

Eiri posted a video on TIkTok titled: "Watching your boyfriend almost kiss another woman on live TV."

In the self-filmed clip, she threw her head back in faux despair and joked: "Finding out 10 million other people also watched it live, while pretending to sob again."

The BBC dancing competition has become renowned for breaking up couples over the years, while other celebs taking part have ended up falling for their dance partners in what has become known as 'The Strictly curse.'
