Good Morning Britain's Susanna Reid admitted she felt "discombobulated" after social distancing measures were loosened on the show.

The 50-year-old was presenting today's edition of the ITV news programme alongside Richard Madeley.

The broadcasters had been forced to sit 2m apart while hosting the show since the Coronavirus pandemic hit in March 2020.

However, the presenters were delighted to announced the restrictions had been eased as the show ditched the graphic that made the hosts appear they were sitting next to eachtother for the first time.

Richard said: "Look, my arm isn't disappearing into cyberspace. We are actually, literally sitting next to each other again for the first time in two years."

And Susanna admitted she was still getting used to the big production change.

She said: "It is actually quite discombobulating."

Richard joked in response: "Shall we go back to the way we were. I feel a bit more comfortable."

Susanna then clarified how the production of the show had been changed so they could sit next to eachother.

She explained: "So we have loosened the social distancing on this programme. So we are sitting a little closer together."

Richard then spoke about the difficulties of hosting the show while sitting so far apart.

The 65-year-old said: "We'll get back used to it, because co-presenting is about co-presenting quite closely together, and it's been quite hard.

"At least I can hear you. It's been a struggle to hear you at times"

As Richard moved closer to his co-host, Susanna quipped: "That's close enough."

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV and ITVHub
