Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hits back at Jamie Carragher's MNF comments

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hit back at comments from Jamie Carragher on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football.

United were defeated 4-2 by Leicester City on Saturday in what was their second loss this season in the Premier League.

Despite summer signings Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo coming in for big money, United remain some way off rivals Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea, who are starting to pull away at the top of the table.

The former Liverpool defender believes Solskjaer is 'not at the level' of other managers in the league.

PSG could turn to Salah

Should Paris Saint-Germain fail to extend Kylian Mbappe's deal, the French side will move to sign Mohamed Salah should a transfer for Erling Haaland fail to materialise.

Mbappe is out of contract in the summer and is yet to reach terms with the Ligue 1 side, with an exit still very much on the cards.

According to AS, Salah would be next on the agenda for PSG if Haaland cannot be signed and would be 'greatly appreciated' by the 'upper echelons' of PSG present in Doha.

Taylor to take charge of United match

Anthony Taylor will take charge of Sunday's Premier League game between Manchester United and Liverpool.

The Premier League referee has only been appointed for one other game involving the Reds, which was the controversial 1-1 draw with Chelsea back in August.

He was also in charge for last season's game at Old Trafford between the sides.

Alexander-Arnold prediction

Gary Lineker has likened Trent Alexander-Arnold to Italian icon Andrea Pirlo, insisting that the Liverpool defender can still be shaped into a midfield option for England.

Supporters and pundits have been debating in recent months whether the 23-year-old should continue as a right-back or be deployed centrally, in order to maximise his passing ability.

England manager Gareth Southgate put this experiment to the test in the Three Lions' 4-0 win over Andorra last month, but this lasted only 45 minutes before he returned to his full-back role.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp weighed in on the debate shortly after this and rubbished the idea that Alexander-Arnold should be moved out of a position which has brought the Reds such success in recent years.

But Lineker has not given up hope of this occurring and wants to see the West Derby-born defender become a key figure in the national squad.

Raphinha price named

A Brazilian football agent has provided his view on what Liverpool may have to pay to secure the services of Leeds United winger Raphinha.

The Brazil international was linked with the Reds in the summer, though a deal failed to materialise.

Currently valued at £28.8m, according to transfermarkt, Raphinha's agent has been left puzzled at this figure.

Deco, the former Barcelona midfielder who now represents Raphinha, said: “I don’t know how they do it. To be honest, I don’t understand Transfermarkt’s evaluations.

“I think now it should go up," he told UOL.

Brazilian agent Eduardo Uram has also weighed in on the debate, stating: “I think today he’s worth more than €32m (£28.8m).

"What will determine the price is the level of the club that signs him. If it’s Manchester United, City, Liverpool, Chelsea, the price could reach around €60m (£50.6m). What determines the price of a player is the market he hits.”

Reds backed for Dembele deal

Liverpool have been backed to make a move for Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele next summer.

The Frenchman is out of contract at Barcelona in the summer and is yet to agree terms over a new deal at Camp Nou.

Dembele has emerged as a rumoured target for the Reds in recent weeks, and former Liverpool midfielder Steve McManaman believes recruiting the 2018 World Cup winner could be ' a smart piece of business'.

Speaking to horseracing.net, he said: "If they could get him on a free contract and get the deal sorted then I don’t think there’s any problem with that. His wage demands would have to come under the structure of what Liverpool would like to pay but due to the fact he would be a free signing and the player knows Jurgen Klopp personally, then it could be a smart piece of business.

"Liverpool will do their due diligence on him and whether they take that punt or not is another thing. However, a really talented player available on a free transfer is certainly worth a risk."

Expected to depart in January or next summer, January are said to be the frontrunners for his services.

But a latest report from Tuttosport has indicated that Liverpool may not be out of the race to sign the 21-year-old yet.
