Angela Rayner is urging her constituents to do their bit to support refugees arriving from Afghanistan.

She is supporting the work of the Tameside Stronger Together Network who are running an urgent appeal for items to be donated.

The Ashton hub for the Afghanistan Crisis Appeal is at The Station Pub, Warrington Street, OL6 6XB. Donations can be dropped off between 12-4pm every day.

Items currently needed are larder goods (pasta, rice, soup, biscuits, coffee, tea, sugar, long life milk and tinned foods), toiletries (deodorant, shampoo, body wash, toothbrushes, toothpaste and shaving kits), sanitary products, nappies, baby formula, baby wipes and new underwear/socks.

Angela said: “I am always proud of the way my constituents pull together to help those in need. We are delighted to welcome people who have supported our British Armed Forces in Afghanistan. Some of the people arriving will have nothing except the clothes on their back so we all need to do what we can to support them.”
