‘Wow’: Liverpool talent posts Twitter message after ‘extremely’ important career milestone

Liverpool academy talent Elijah Dixon-Bonner has expressed his joy after making his debut for the Reds this week.

Taking to Twitter, the 20-year-old London-born midfielder took to the pitch against Preston North End as Liverpool progressed to the League Cup quarter-finals. Goals from Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi sealed a 2-0 win for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Dixon-Bonner has been a key part for Liverpool at U-23 level this season. The former Arsenal academy star has featured in every Premier League 2 fixture this campaign. Furthermore, the midfielder scoring a brace in their previous match against Blackburn Rovers.

Indeed, it could have been that performance that convinced Klopp to give the youngster minutes in the senior squad. Moreover, on social media, Dixon-Bonner was thrilled to have made his debut for Liverpool.

Dixon-Bonner posted: “Wow! Extremely proud day to make my debut for this amazing club! So thankful to the travelling fans & all Liverpool fans for your support. Onto the quarter-finals we go!”

The result means that Liverpool will go into Saturday’s draw League Cup quarter-final draw, where the Reds can face some big clubs in the Premier League, such as Chelsea, Arsenal and West Ham United.

Every player remembers their first game for their club. And for Dixon-Bonner, the 20-year-old midfielder seemingly sounds motivated to feature more for Klopp’s side after his first taste of senior football.

Indeed, with the youngster starring for Liverpool at U-23 level, there’s a strong chance that Dixon-Bonner can again win his way into the Reds first-team. And with another League Cup fixture on the horizon, the youngster will be eager to feature for that match.
