Video emerges of man shaving, brushing teeth during Kerala HC virtual hearing
A man was caught on video brushing his teeth, shaving during a virtual court proceeding. The incident occurred on Monday, January 17, the first day Kerala HC returned to conducting virtual hearings due to the rise in Covid cases.
The Kerala HC had decided to conduct virtual hearings from Monday, January 17, due to the rise in Covid-19 cases. On the same day, a man who entered the session was seen brushing his teeth or shaving facing the camera.
While Justice VG Arun did not notice the incident, a video of it was circulated on social media.
In the video, it seems that the man has just woken up and is walking back and forth across a room, which appears to be his bedroom. After this, the man can be seen either shaving his beard or brushing his teeth during the proceedings.
The Administrative Committee of the High Court chaired by Chief Justice S Manikumar took the decision to continue the Kerala HC proceedings virtually. For the next one month, all virtual hearings will be conducted virtually. A decision regarding its extension will be taken after that.
There have been multiple instances in the past where judges complained about decorum in virtual courtrooms. People have been caught carrying out personal activities during proceedings.
On December 21, 2021, a lawyer from Tamil Nadu was caught being intimate with a woman during a Madras HC online court proceeding. The Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry barred him from practising in any courts in the state till the disciplinary proceedings against him are disposed of.
In a similar incident in November 2021, a shirtless man was spotted in Justice Devan Ramachandran's bench during its afternoon session.
