A FORMER Nayland schoolboy and top Formula 1 driver is challenging the public to take part in an e-sports racing competition.

Alex Albon, who went to Littlegarth School as a youngster, now competes for Williams Racing and took his first podium finish for Red Bull at the 2020 Tuscan Grand Prix.

Williams Racing has teamed up with high-end electronics company Bang & Olufsen to launch a gaming competition.

Running until July 3, visitors to the Colchester Bang & Olufsen store will have the chance to impress Albon with their lap time in a state-of-the-art racing rig.

Entrants will need to complete a timed lap and provide their full name and email address.

The winner, selected at random from all entrants, will receive a Formula 1 VIP experience at the 2023 British Grand Prix with Williams.

It will include a meet and greet with the team’s drivers, a garage tour and pitlane walk.

David Morris, head of marketing at Bang & Olufsen, said: “We’re delighted to be able to offer this authentic racing experience for those wishing to try their hand behind the wheel at the British Grand Prix circuit.

“Our shared passion to deliver ‘goosebump moments’ to customers and fans alike make Bang & Olufsen and Williams a formidable team.

“We are genuinely excited to see how our customers step up to the challenge.”
