A major road in Greater Manchester has reopened after being closed due to a police incident, reports say.

The A57(M) Mancunian Way in Manchester City Centre was closed in both directions due to the incident.

Police confirmed that the road was closed following a report of concern for the welfare of a male on Mancunian Way.

Emergency services, including the police, were said to be on scene dealing with an incident.

London Road underneath the Mancunian Way had also reportedly been closed.

Transport for Greater Manchester have confirmed that the incident has been resolved and the road has been reopened, with residual delays in the city centre.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "At around 6:30pm this evening we were called to a report about a concern for the welfare of a male on Mancunian Way.

"Emergency services and specialist officers were deployed to the area immediately with the road being closed for safety measures.

"The incident is ongoing at this moment in time."

A Transport for Greater Manchester spokesperson said: “A57(M) Mancunian Way. Full closure currently in place from Pin Mill Brow to Regent Road.

“Emergency services are on scene dealing with an incident. London Road is also closed underneath the Mancunian Way.

“Re-route to avoid delays.”

Traffic data company Inrix says that the A635 Mancunian Way is closed both ways, with queuing traffic due to a police incident from North Western Street to Pin Mill Brow.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, Transport for Greater Manchester and North West Ambulance Service have all been contacted for comment.
