A Texas Child Protective Services employee was fired after allegedly telling a 14-year-old girl in the agency’s care that she should become a prostitute.

A mother of nine, Keisha Bazley had turned to the state-run agency while in desperate need of help taking care of her teenage daughter, who she says was running away and causing trouble at school, according to Fox 26.

Bazley said: ‘My daughter told me that the worker had been telling her she should do these, things, so she said she decided to video her.’

The video shows the young girl telling the state employee she’s hungry, and would like food. In response, the CPS worker tells the girl she should become a prostitute.

Family law attorney Mike Schneider told Fox 26 slammed the response, noting it gave the girl ‘an incentive to do so, and almost as a threat of not having her needs being met.’

The agency, responsible for investigating child abuse and endangerment, had placed Bazley’s daughter in a hotel, along with dozens of other foster children in that region of Texas.

After viewing the video, Bazley filed a formal complaint with the agency. She noted to the TV station that if she were telling her daughter these things, she would likely face serious consequences.

She said: ‘If me, the parent, was to do something like this to my child, I would be bashed. I would be called a horrible parent. I would lose my kids.’

Following the controversy, the agency’s commissioner, Jamie Masters, went Bazley’s house to apologize to her and her daughter.

He said: ‘This should not happen to girls in their care. It should not happen. It’s unacceptable.’

In a statement, the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services said they were aware of the video and have taken action.

They said: ‘The person in the video – who was employed as CPS support staff – was dismissed from her position August 10. The safety and appropriateness with which children in care must be treated is our paramount concern. Nothing less will be tolerated.’
