A 'serious' crash has shut a major road in Doncaster this afternoon (Weds).

The A630 Balby Road is currently closed outbound after an accident at the junction with Belmont Avenue between the A18 Carr House Road and Carr Hill. First South Yorkshire has confirmed some of its services are being forced to divert after the 'serious accident'.

Taking to Twitter, @FirstSouthYorks said: "Due to a serious accident on Balby Road at the junction with Belmont Avenue all outbound services are diverted via: Balby Road, Mansfield Road, Littlemoor Lane, Greenfield Lane and Balby Road."

Services 10, 15, 16, 19 and X78 are all affected by the closure. Yorkshire Live has contacted South Yorkshire Police for a statement on the crash.

Police statement as boy, 14, hit by car on Balby Road and rushed to hospital

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said:

Police were called at 12.32pm today (August 17) to reports of a collision on Balby Road, Doncaster. It’s reported that a 14-year-old boy had been in collision with a car. The boy has been taken to hospital for treatment. The road was closed for some time but is now reopen.
