What factors do you associate with 'cosiness'?

Frost on the ground? Short days and long nights? A lot of rain? All of them, according to LotteryCritic.com which crunched weather data over the last 10 years to produce a chart of cities and towns expected to enjoy the cosiest autumn this year.

They said: "A warm jumper, a hot cup of pumpkin-spiced latte, a lit candle - all signs that autumn has arrived, bringing with it all the cosiness.

"As the rain pours, the experts at LotteryCritic.com decided to analyse factors generally associated with the feeling of cosiness, such as monthly rainfall and sunshine hours, revealing the UK towns and cities expected to enjoy the cosiest autumn this year."

The northern Scottish city of Inverness had the most rain and the fewest hours of sunlight making it the 'cosiest', followed by East Kilbride, near Glasgow, and Carlisle, Cumbria.

Harrogate was the seventh 'cosiest' in the UK – and the second 'cosiest' in England – with 17 days with ground frost, 90mm of rainfall, 92 sunshine hours, half a day of snow and other factors (all per month).

Other Yorkshire towns on the chart were Barnsley (12th) and Huddersfield and Halifax (13th equal).
