After BJP, Congress delegation set to visit flash flood site, hospital in West Bengal

Congress has formed a delegation that will visit the site of a flash flood that resulted in the deaths of 8 people during a Durga immersion ceremony in Kolkata. Earlier, a BJP delegation visited the site and accused the state administration of lapses in arrangements.

As Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee gears up for the mega puja carnival in Kolkata, the opposition has launched an attack over the flash flood incident in West Bengal. The flash flood has triggered a blame game and politics, with Congress also deciding to send a delegation to Malbazar after the BJP had sent its delegation.

Eight people died due to a flash flood in the Mal river during the Durga immersion ceremony. The BJP delegation has already visited the site and hospital today. The party constituted a 9-member delegation consisting of seven MLAs and an MP.

The BJP has already blamed the state administration, accusing them of lapses in arrangements. John Barla, the central minister, had accused and questioned why the immersion was allowed and no arrangements had been made when the flash flood had at the same spot.

According to BJP, the state administration did not make suitable arrangements during immersion. Now, Congress has also constituted a delegation that will visit the site and hospital.

Meanwhile, Kolkata is set for tomorrow’s mega puja carnival where the 100 best Durga puja committees have been selected for the Durga idol parade in Red Road. Mamata Banerjee will be the chief guest of the event tomorrow.
