Strictly Come Dancing 2022 RECAP — Fans fuming as series favourite forced to fight for survival AGAIN in tense dance off

- Who are the Strictly Come Dancing judges?

- How to apply for Strictly 2022 tickets

STRICTLY fans are furious after a favourite was in the dance-off AGAIN, despite previously getting the highest score of the series.

Strictly Come Dancing star Will Mellor topped the leaderboard with his opening Charleston routine, performed with Nancy Xu - but Ellie Taylor was the latest star to hang up her shoes after being voted off.

Helen Skelton and Gorka Marquez found themselves in the bottom two with Ellie Taylor and Johannes two after scoring 29 and 25 a piece - but the Countryfile presenter managed to escape the dance off.

And fans were outraged as Fleur East found herself dancing for survival despite not being in the bottom two of the leaderboard.

One viewer ranted: "FLEUR WAS IN THE BOTTOM TWO AGAIN?! WHAT THE HELL PEOPLE! WHY DO YOU HATE HER?", while another said: "Fleur shouldn't be in the bottom two - not sure why the public don't rate her - think she's amazing."

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One on Friday at 8pm.

  • Strictly returns to our screens on Friday

  • Another Strictly row involving Fleur East

Fleur East saw herself in the dance-off on Sunday night for the THIRD time after failing to secure enough votes from the public to earn her a safe place in the next round.

Fans took to Twitter to complain about why this keeps happening to Fleur.

One person wrote: “Racist #strictly voting in full force tonight.”

Another said: “Fleur this beautiful woman in the dance off again… this woman dances really well but hold on let me guess cz she is Black and most of people who vote are conservative and white 🥱 #Strictly #racism.”

  • Did you spot this 'cheeky' moment during the results show?

Strictly viewers were surprised that the BBC decided to advertise co-host Claudia Winkleman's new show The Traitors during the broadcast on November 27.

Fans were given a sneak peek of the heavily promoted series - starting tomorrow night - but were left unhappy after the show had to be cut short 10 minutes already because of the football.

One fumed: "Considering it’s a shortened show, someone has a brass neck advertising Claude’s new show in the middle of the results! Unbelievable!"

A second was even less polite, adding: "Hey! Stop advertising that Traitors nonsense right in the middle of Strictly! Looks a right load of rubbish, anyway."

  • Thanks for the great moments

Meanwhile, let's also give it up for the other dancers, who already left the show and still managed to amaze us with their great performances.

The dancers that left already are:

  • Who's left on Strictly?

Good Morning Strictly fans, we get you might be devastated because fan-favourite Ellie Taylor left the show last night.

  • What did Ellie Taylor say about competing in Strictly?

When asked by host Tess Daly whether the competition had been everything she had expected, Taylor said: “It has and it’s been, I’m going to be a cliche machine now, but it’s been everything and more.

“I never in a million years expected to be in for this long and to experience it so fully.

“Strictly is about dancing but it’s also about the people, and every part of this show from the top to bottom, from the execs to the make-up, to the hair to the costumes, to the sets to the band, to my fellow celebs and the dancers – even some of the judges have been alright.

“It’s been an absolute privilege to become part of the Strictly alumni and I’ve really, really loved it.”

  • All four judges voted to save Fleur

Singer and radio host East, 35, performed the rumba to Too Lost In You by the Sugababes with her partner Vito Coppola, and the judges then delivered their verdicts.

Craig Revel Horwood opted to save East, saying: “Based purely on the technique alone I would like to save Fleur and Vito.”

Motsi Mabuse agreed, and added: “First of all I would like to say that both couples performed really, really well, also for me the technical aspect was very important, so I’m going to save Fleur and Vito.”

Anton Du Beke also chose to save East but praised Taylor for her efforts: “I’d just like to say congratulations to both couples for getting this far into the competition.

“Both danced marvellously. I thought Ellie danced a great performance in your jive. And Fleur I thought your technique was strong and your performance was powerful, and I’d like to save Fleur and Vito.”

  • Ellie Taylor booted off Strictly Come Dancing

Ellie Taylor has become the ninth celebrity to leave Strictly Come Dancing, missing out on a place in next week’s quarter final and musicals week.

Following the public vote, the Ted Lasso actress, 38, found herself up against Fleur East in the dance-off.

Taylor took to the floor to perform the jive to Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison with her professional partner Johannes Radebe.

After struggling to impress the judges with her Thelma & Louise-themed performance during Saturday night’s live edition of the BBC One show, Taylor once again left them feeling underwhelmed.

  • Fleur East’s dad would ‘burst with pride’ if he saw Saturday night’s performance

“I love singing so much because it’s part of my DNA. It’s part of who I am,” she said.

“If my dad was here and he knew I was going to Blackpool, I think he would burst with pride.”

She continued: “He was my biggest fan. Everything I’m doing, I’m doing for him and to make him proud.”

  • How Strictly helped Molly Rainford

Molly Rainford is the youngest celeb in this year’s Strictly, however, she explained how the show helped her to grow from a girl into a woman.

She said: “Strictly is definitely bringing out a different side in me, but it was tricky not feeling awkward about being that sensual and feminine.

“Of course, it was important that this dance was more than a sexy rumba — we also wanted to show this romantic story and the passionate side of us.

“But it was great to show the adult side of me and not just be the kid of the competition.”

  • Maise smith opens up on relationship with Max George

Soap actress Maisie Smith has said her relationship with The Wanted’s Max George makes her feel like she is “in a movie”.

The celebrity couple first met when they both competed on Strictly Come Dancing in 2020, but they have revealed that romantic sparks only began to fly earlier this year.

In a new interview with Hello! magazine, the pair have opened up about how their connection developed and their plans for the future together for the first time.

Smith, 21, told the outlet that it was not until the dance competition’s live arena tour in January this year that a close friendship started to form between them.

“When I’d speak to my mum, I’d always bring Max up, he was one of my closest friends, but there was never anything more”, the EastEnders star said.

  • Strictly fans hail family man Will Mellor

Following his impressive performance this weekend, soap star Will Mellor spoke about the close relationship he shares with his kids.

He said: “They’re my life, obviously anyone who has got kids knows they are why I do everything. I’m glad they’re here to support me. They mean everything to me.”

“It’s hard balancing it with my other jobs, as I’m filming Waterloo Road at the moment too and presenting  Morning Live.

“I really am knackered and I’ve had some physio because I’m aching all over the place, but it’s worth it.”
