Lawal Adamu Usman condemns killings in Rafin-Sarki, expects victory at Appeal Court

A Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, senatorial hopeful for Kaduna central, Lawal Adamu Usman, aka Mr LA, has condemned the killing of 15 people in Rafin-Sarki, Giwa local government area of Kaduna state in a morning raid by daredevil bandits on Thursday, last week.

In a statement in Kaduna on Sunday, Lawal Adamu Usman berated Kaduna state and the federal government for doing little to curtail the killing of defenceless farmers who experience frequent attacks from bandits in Giwa, Birnin-Gwari and some parts of Igabi local government area.

Mr LA stated, “it is disheartening to observe that local people are being killed on daily basis and forced to pay levies by non-state actors with security operatives doing little to arrest the situation. With the local farmers being killed and chased from their ancestral homes, one imagines the adverse effect it will have on food security.” He called on government to deploy adequate security personnel to villages badly hit by bandits.

Usman assured the good people of Giwa local government area of the establishment of military formation in strategic areas to stem the tide of insecurity, if elected in 2023 general elections.

He said he has appealed the ruling of the federal high court Kaduna, presided nullifying his primary election adjudged as the best having polled 99 votes to beat his closest rival Usman Ibrahim who got 84 votes. “I have already filled an appeal. The Court of Appeal has notified and served letter to the respondents. We are waiting for the date we will appear in court.

Mr LA chided the state working committee for being complicit in the crises rocking the party in the state.

“The defection of thousands of party faithful recently across the state shows PDP is poised to lose elections unless concerted efforts are made to reconcile aggrieved members. It is unfortunate some people see the party as their personal estate and sideline some committed members in the party’s affairs. They formed a single campaign structure and failed to engage members believed to be in the camp of former Vice President Namadi Sambo,” he said.

Lawal Adamu Usman is optimistic that the Appeal Court will rule in his favour.

“Looking at the Appeal Court judgements in adamawa state where Aisha Binani was affirmed as the legitimate winner and Kano central PDP senatorial primary in which the court recognised Aisha Laila, I will win my ticket back,” he said.
