NADDC set to unveil ambulance to boost emergency services, others

Nigerians would soon heave a sign of relief in the health sector as the federal government through the National Automative Design and Development Council (NADDC) is set to unveil an ambulance type vehicle for emergencies when needed.

The director general of NADDC, Jelani Aliyu, who noted this in Abuja during Commerce and Industry Correspondent Association of Nigeria (CICAN) media parley, said the followed when the establishment of a National Emergency Medical Service and Ambulance system to provide vehicle and ambulance services for both cities and rural areas .

He said they are working on the engineering aspect of it as they just concluded a meeting with developing specific system .

“We have a team from Zaria, consultants and we are evaluating going through the suspension system to make sure that it is capable enough.

“We are doing a lot of this digitally and we intend to build a fully functioned prototype. We believe that Nigeria has developed and nobody must be left behind.

According to him, the ambulance will be equipped with telemedicine and inter-connectivity adding that NADDC is also working with the ultimate Nigerian vehicle that will be affordable.

“The vehicle is very sleek. We are developing the vehicle using very sophisticated Computer programs and all the components are embedded and tested,” he said.

On vehicle financing, he said Jaiz Bank has agreed to work with them because they have a TSA requirement and they are working with government funds.

“That is why we are also discussing with CBN, we all know the FG have put in billions of naira into Cement, Rice and Sugar. So we are asking for the same amount of support and huge fund to be created and applied to fund automobile.

“We believe the automobile sector can come and add value to make a difference. Imagine all the hundreds of thousand of jobs that will be created if the federal government comes in to support just as they support the sugar,” he said .
