Brazil and Switzerland go head-to-head in Group G on Monday with both sides having the chance to confirm their place in the last 16 of the 2022 World Cup with a win.

The Selecao opened their tournament account with a 2-0 victory over Serbia on Thursday courtesy of Richarlison’s second half brace - the second goal of which was particularly special as he produced a sublime scissor kick to double his side’s lead.

But now another three points is the main aim in order to take a huge step to another World Cup glory, although Switzerland will also have the same objective in mind after getting the ball rolling with their 1-0 victory over Cameroon four days ago.

When is Brazil vs Switzerland?

Brazil vs Switzerland will kick-off at 4pm (GMT) on Monday, November 28 at Stadium 974 in Doha, Qatar.

This will be the 10th meeting between the two sides and their third in World Cup competition, following group stage draws in both 1950 and 2018.

The last meeting between the two sides was, in fact, that 2018 meeting in Russia four years ago, as Brazil were held to a 1-1 draw. Philippe Coutinho put the Selecao ahead after 20 minutes but Steven Zuber’s 50th minute effort salvaged a point for the Swiss.

Team news

Knowing that another victory will effectively secure their place in the knockout stages, Tite could look to use the same attacking lineup against Switzerland once more in the hope of getting the job done with one game to spare.

However, the Selecao are sweating over the fitness of golden boy Neymar (ankle) after he was forced off through injury with 10 minutes to play. Should he fail to recover in time to face Switzerland, then one of Rodrygo, Gabriel Jesus, Antony and Gabriel Martinelli will look to replace him after the quartet were all introduced off the bench four days ago.

As for Switzerland, they got their campaign off to the perfect start with a narrow 1-0 victory over Cameroon and Murat Yakin will look towards the same 11 players who started that game to produce a positive outcome against the group favourites on Monday.

Nico Elvedi will hope to keep his place alongside Manchester City ’s Manuel Akanji in the heart of the defence ahead of Newcastle ’s Fabian Schar, with Granit Xhaka and Remo Freuler sitting in front of them. Match winner Breel Embolo will keep his place in attack, but the likes of Fabian Frei, Noah Okafor and Haris Seferovic will all be pushing for starts.
