The Whites were beaten 2-1 by Aston Villa which saw them drop to 14th in the table. They bounced back from the disappointing defeat to Villa by beating Cardiff City 5-2 in the FA Cup third on Thursday evening.

The big win over Cardiff City should give Jesse Marsch’s team a lot of confidence heading into the game against Brentford, who have won four of their last five Premier League games.

Predicted Leeds United Lineup vs Brentford (4-2-3-1)

Goalkeeper

Illan Meslier has been one of Leeds’ best players in an otherwise disappointing campaign so far. He is a certainty to start in goal against Brentford.

Defence

Liam Cooper and Robin Koch should recover from knocks in time to pair up in central defence on Sunday. Cooper and Koch have to be switched on throughout the 90 minutes and defend well against physical Brentford forwards such as Ivan Toney and Bryan Mbeumo.

Luke Ayling and Pascal Struijk should replace Rasmus Kristensen and Junior Firpo at right-back and left-back respectively for this clash.

Midfield

Tyler Adams and Marc Roca have formed a good partnership in the middle of the park and the duo are expected to keep their spots in the first XI. With Roca and Adams protecting the Leeds backline, Jack Harrison will get the license to roam around the park and impact the proceedings in the final third.

football formations

Sam Greenwood will drop down to the bench after featuring in the midweek cup tie as he waits for his chance to make an impact in the second 45 minutes if called upon.

Attack

There is no looking past Wilfried Gnonto at the moment, with the diminutive Italian currently the Whites’ most impressive and consistent performer. He scored a brace against Cardiff in midweek and will be raring to get himself on the scoresheet on Sunday.

Gnonto will be joined by Brenden Aaronson and Rodrigo in the Leeds attack. Aaronson will look to cause damage to the Brentford backline from the right, while Rodrigo spearheads the attack once again. Patrick Bamford and Luis Sinisterra will wait for their opportunities to make an impact off the bench.
