The Post Office has shaken up its services in Rutland and Melton area - including stopping a local mobile service. The company has confirmed a number of changes to its services in the area, including the cut of the North Luffenham Mobile Post Service.

According to the Post Office, this is due to a low number of users for the service - which will cause some disruption for locals who need postal services, having to travel to neighbouring villages such as Edith Weston, Wing, or Ketton.

However, the company has also announced two brand-new locations for its mobile services, setting up a stop in both Exton and Somerby. The services began earlier this month, with the mobile service stopping out Somerby Village Hall every Monday from 11.45am to 12.45pm

Exton's stop, however, is at The Green every Friday from 1.15pm to 2.15pm. The mobile Post Office routes offer a wide range of services including posting letters and parcels, banking services and cash withdrawals, and bill payments.

The changes will impact the mobile services to nearby Hallaton and Caldecott, with the service being in place outside The Fox pub on North End between 9.30am and 10.30am on Wednesdays and Fridays. Meanwhile, the service will be in Caldecott at the Village Hall car park between 11am and 12 noon on Wednesdays.

With local bank branches closing, a lot of communities depend on the Post Office to access in-person banking services for their accounts, including both personal and business accounts.
