Mayor Kirk Watson apologized about the city's lack of sufficient communication during this week's winter storm at a press conference Friday morning. "The city let its citizens down," he said.

Austin officials are holding another news conference Friday evening to discuss widespread power outages plaguing the city.

Mayor Kirk Watson, Travis County Judge Andy Brown, City Manager Spencer Cronk will speak, along with Austin Energy General Manager Jackie Sargent and Austin Water Director Shay Ralls Roalson. There are currently around 110,000 Austin Energy customers still without power. The utility says it no longer has an estimate for when power will be restored.
