A man has died after suffering "a medical episode" in a house off Narborough Road in Leicester today. Police and East Midlands Ambulance Service were called to Cambridge Street, in the West End, at 10.55am, after a man was reported as being in need of emergency treatment.

An ambulance, three paramedic response cars, three police cars and a police van attended. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said there were no suspicious surounding the death, and a file would be prepared for the coroner.

Residents were shocked to see a large gathering of emergency vehicles outside their homes, which were in place until around 12.45pm, when all but a police car departed. One resident said: "Police have been here about an hour, paramedics turned up later, I think.

"It looks serious, the road's been blocked the entire time and there's been lots of police officers here.

"Not a clue what's happened but it's never a good sign when there's this many paramedics and police on your road."

A second said: "It's not every day you see so many police cars and ambulances outside of your home. I hope nobody is badly hurt.

"The road's just reopened now after being blocked for more than an hour and a half. There's not much we could do than just look on."

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: "At 10.55am today a called was made to the force about a man suffering a medical episode in Cambridge Street, Leicester. East Midlands Ambulance Service were also called to the scene. Sadly, the man was pronounced deceased at the scene. There are no suspicious circumstances."
