An investigation has been launched after a woman died in a house fire in Chorley. Emergency services were called to the blaze at a flat on Grisedale Place at around 6.50am on February 4.

Fire engines from both Lancashire and Greater Manchester attended the fire, LancsLive reports.

Firefighters rescued one woman from the property, but she was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

A statement from Lancashire Fire and Rescue said: "Three fire engines from Lancashire and Greater Manchester were called to a fire involving a flat on Grisedale Place, Chorley at 06:48 on Saturday morning.

"Firefighters used two breathing apparatus and hose reel to extinguish the fire. One female was brought out of the property by firefighters, but she was later pronounced dead at the scene.

"A fire investigation has now commenced."
