Luke Shaw has suggested Marcus Rashford has learned which positions to regularly take up to score goals for Manchester United.

Rashford scored the winning goal in United's 2-1 win against Crystal Palace on Saturday and that strike was his 18th of the season in all competitions. The forward scored just five goals last term and he's now playing some of his best football for the club.

Erik ten Hag has played Rashford on the left and through the middle and he's become undroppable for the Dutchman.

Shaw has played with Rashford at club level and with England at the World Cup in Qatar - where the forward scored three for his nation - this season and he believes his "hot streak" can be explained by him taking up dangerous positions.

"He's on that hot streak," Shaw told MUTV. "He's learned now how to be in the right positions to score goals and he's doing that, he's a man on fire at the moment. He's a vital part of our team and the way we're performing is a lot down to him.

"Hopefully he can keep on getting the goals and keeping his performances at a high level."

Shaw was also asked about the atmosphere on Saturday and he took the chance to heap the praise on the home support.

"It obviously feels nicer at the end when Old Trafford is bouncing," he added. The energy the crowd were giving us today, especially in the last 20 minutes, is why we love it here. We felt like they were with us and we feed off that energy.

"They helped us a lot in the last 20 minutes. You could see it, it does make a difference and it was such an important three points today and they [the fans] clearly did their part in helping us achieve that."
