John Stones will miss Manchester City's Premier League trip to Tottenham with a hamstring injury that is expected to keep him out for at least three weeks.

Stones picked up the issue last week against Arsenal in the FA Cup, and Pep Guardiola confirmed on Friday that the centre-back will miss three to four weeks of action.

On the positive injury front, Phil Foden is back in training and will be available for the trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, having missed the last two games with a foot injury that was originally picked up at Manchester United. Otherwise, Guardiola should have a strong squad to pick from as City look for their first win at Spurs' new stadium.

Rico Lewis has done so well since coming into the team but toiled against Arsenal's Leandro Trossard and with a full week of training the experience and motivation of Kyle Walker against his former team could give City an edge. John Stones misses out through injury and this feels like a good game to bring Ruben Dias back in after his issues.

Nathan Ake is a must a left-back - especially after his performance there against the same opponents - and Ilkay Gundogan probably edges Bernardo Silva to make the midfield three. Phil Foden is fit again but it is hard to look past the in-form wing duo that have been ticking along nicely with goal contributions.

Pep Guardiola rested Kevin De Bruyne for the home fixture as he wanted Julian Alvarez in the side as an extra body in the box. That tactic only paid off in the second half after Spurs scored twice, though, so maybe another body in midfield could be useful in North London. I'd bring back De Bruyne and encourage Bernardo Silva to get forward wherever possible.

With Joao Cancelo gone, Nathan Ake is first choice left-back, and deservedly so. Adding Aymeric Laporte next to him provides a bit more cover on that side, while Kyle Walker may be better on the right against Son Heung-min. Rico Lewis did well in the home fixture, but experience may see Walker preferred. Ruben Dias will be itching to start again after injury, although Manu Akanji hasn't done much wrong recently and should keep his place.

In attack, while Alvarez was very good in the home comeback, the wing pair of Riyad Mahrez and Jack Grealish are undroppable at the moment, so Alvarez and the fit-again Phil Foden can add energy off the bench.

Though still not at their free-flowing, scintillating best, City have at least picked up two strong victories in their last two outings including an FA Cup win over title rivals Arsenal. With a semblance of momentum finally being built, why make many changes that could disrupt it?

One change will be enforced upon Pep Guardiola as John Stones faces a spell on the sidelines so Aymeric Laporte should come in for him in the heart of defence that otherwise should remain the same with Rico Lewis, Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake.

It may also be worth adding the energetic Bernardo Silva into midfield in place of Ilkay Gundogan but, otherwise, I'd keep the rest of the side as it is. Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne in midfield, of course, with Riyad Mahrez, Erling Haaland and Jack Grealish continuing in attack.
