These are the comedy superstars heading to Prague in 2023

Comedy has become one of the most rapidly growing forms of live entertainment in Czechia, and this year proves it with a stellar lineup of international comics making Prague a stop on their tours.

A run of English-friendly stand-up shows by some of the genre's biggest acts kicks off this week with a comedy showcase at Lucerna Music Bar and goes out with a bang at Forum Karlin later this year. In between, an American comedy-rock duo will temper the British humor.

First up is the latest edition of the Comedy Store, which brings a trio of comics to Lucerna Music Bar on Feb. 10. Laura Lexx gained a huge following during the lockdown when her posts about an imaginary love life gained millions of views. She will be joined by Lily Phillips and Geoff Norcott, both of whom have made extensive TV appearances in the UK.

Two more editions of the Comedy Store are slated for May 12 and Nov. 10, with different comics appearing. Names have not yet been released.

Superstar Ricky Gervais returns to Prague Congress Center on March 4 with a new show ominously called “Armageddon.” His last tour resulted in the Netflix Show “SuperNature,” which caused some quite a stir for its edgy jokes that some people found offensive.

Irish comedian Dylan Moran is known for the award-winning series series “Black Books” and more recent “Stuck” as well as film appearances. His current “We Got This” tour ends its European leg at Prague Congress Center on April 4.

Australian-born and U.S.-based Jim Jefferies should please people, as his show promises to “Give Em What They Want.” Jefferies had an eponymous show on Comedy Central for three seasons, ending in 2019. He will be at Prague Congress Center on April 21.

American stand-up comic Tom Segura co-hosts the popular podcasts “Your Mom's House” and “Two Bears, One Cave,” and has been on several Netflix specials. His April 26 show at Divadlo Broadway as part of his “I'm Going Everywhere” tour is sold out.

Jack Black and Kyle Gass, otherwise known as comedy-rock duo Tenacious D are bringing their act back to Europe for a run of shows that will include a stop at Prague’s Forum Karlín, on June 4. When the duo's surreal HBO comedy series debuted in 1999 it was described by the LA Times as "Spinal Tap for the open-mike-night crowd."

Arriving late in the year, Daniel Sloss comes to Forum Karlín on Dec. 7. The Scottish comedian will perform his oddly titled show “Daniel Sloss – Can’t.” He says he prides himself on pushing boundaries. He claims that his 2018 Netflix special “Jigsaw” caused over 120,000 break-ups, over 300 divorces, and hundred of canceled engagements.
