Katie Taylor's planned homecoming fight in Dublin in May has been deferred due to an injury suffered by Amanda Serrano.

The Bray boxer was due to fight for the first time professionally on home shores this summer, with the bout originally being lined up for Croke Park before a proposed switch to the 3Arena due to cost issues.

A statement from Taylor’s promoter Matchroom Boxing confirmed the fight will not take place as they seek to find a future date.

It read: "Due to an injury sustained by Amanda Serrano, Matchroom Boxing and Most Valuable Promotions regret to announce that the Taylor-Serrano II bout on 20 May in Dublin will not go ahead as planned.

"The teams are in discussions about finding a revised date for the bout."

It remains to be seen if Taylor will still fight on the date in the Dublin venue against a new opponent, which could then lead into an autumn clash with Serrano at GAA headquarters.
