Borussia Dortmund's women's football team won their second away match this year in the Bezirksliga. The Black & Yellows edged out TuS Eichlinghofen 2-1 (2-1) in a Dortmund derby. The player of the match was Vanessa Kuhl, who scored both goals for Borussia.

The victory means the team maintain their 100-percent record in the Bezirksliga: 16 wins from 16 games. The Black & Yellows thus solidified their position at the top of the table and took further strides towards promotion to the Landesliga. Their closest pursuers, TuS Germania Lohauserholz, are 15 points behind, albeit with a game in hand.

Dortmund coach Thomas Sulewski made three changes to the starting line-up from the 12-0 demolition of Hohenlimburg: Stefanie Scheibe started in goal in place of Sandra Schröer, who was on holiday, while Vanessa Kuhl and Lisa Klemann came in for Denise Pörteners and Lea Rogge-Herper.

The game was less one-sided than the return fixture, which BVB won 5-0 back in mid-September. That said, the Black & Yellows got off to a perfect start, as Vanessa Kuhl drilled a shot from long range into the far corner to open up a 1-0 lead in the third minute.

But the home team mustered up a response, as a lofted cross from out wide soared all the way into the back of the Dortmund net to draw the two sides level at 1-1 (21). The Black & Yellows bounced back quickly from this setback, with Vanessa Kuhl again getting herself on the scoresheet with another long-range effort, this time from the aftermath of a corner (26).

"It was a hard-fought win," said Dortmund coach Sulewski after the final whistle, going on to add: "The opposition defended well, we struggled to hit top gear. Although we deserved to win, we can do better.''

Nevertheless, his team put in a much better performance in the second half, despite "not being able to put the game to bed.'' There was always the risk that the opposition could hit BVB on the counter and snatch an equaliser against the run of play.

The 2-1 win in Eichlinghofen was the Black & Yellows' closest winning margin this season. The team's goal scored/conceded ratio stands at 94-4. Borussia now face a packed English week: on Wednesday evening (19:30 CET) they will take on BV Viktoria Kirchderne in the last 16 of the Kreispokal. Then, on Sunday (15:00 CET), Dortmund will host second-placed Lohauserholz in a top-of-the-table clash at the BVB academy.
