Greenwood is still under investigation at Man United

Manchester United have rejected a number of offers from Turkish clubs to sign Mason Greenwood.

Last month, charges of alleged rape and assault were dropped against the 21-year-old, however he still faces an internal investigation into whether he should become a part of Erik ten Hag’s squad or if United will part ways with him.

Despite speculation around his future, some clubs still remain interested in signing him.

The Athletic have reported that several Turkish clubs have made an attempt to sign the forward, but United have rejected all approaches as they weigh up what to do with his future.

Greenwood is keen to get back to playing football and reportedly wants to “run through a brick wall to be back playing for Man United now.”

His last appearance for the Red Devils came against West Ham United in January, 2022 before he was then arrested a month later.

In October the forward was charged with attempted rape, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour.

Those charges were dropped however, with the Crown Prosecution Service citing the withdrawal of key witnesses and new evidence found as the reason for the outcome.

They also added that new developments meant that there was “no longer a realistic prospect of conviction.”

At the time the charges were dropped, United released a statement to say: “Manchester United notes the decision of the Crown Prosecution Service that all charges against Mason Greenwood have been dropped.

“The club will now conduct its own process before determining next steps. We will not make any further comment until that process is complete.”
