The men's Curling World Championships got off to a blistering start on Saturday as Sweden began on form with a superb victory over Germany. Elsewhere Scotland and Bruce Mouat got off to a winning start, also in dramatic fashion, as they beat Italy with a last-end victory.
Defending champions Sweden got their 2023 Men's Word Curling Championship campaign off to a roaring start with an emphatic 8-2 win over Germany in Calgary.
In just six ends, Niklas Edin led his team to victory in Canada, Rasmus Wranaa and Christoffer Sundgren matching with an 100% takeout figure.
Meanwhile, Scotland edged out Italy in a tense 7-4 thriller.
A back and forth game made it just one point between the two teams leading into the final end, but Bruce Mouat's squad swept to victory, stealing two stones to fire themselves ahead and seal the deal.
Switzerland grabbed an 8-3 win over Canada as Korea claimed an 8-2 victory over New Zealand, both games conceded after eight ends in Canada.
