Scotland's bid for a third straight title at the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championships got off to a patchy start as Bruce Mouat and Jennifer Dodds had a win and a defeat on the opening day. A loss to Canada was followed up with victory over Denmark, and Dodds said the 7-1 win over the Danes was provided 'a lot of confidence' for the rest of the week.

Scotland seal gold at World Curling Championships

Bruce Mouat and Jennifer Dodds bounced back from a loss to Canada with victory over Denmark on opening day at the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championships.
Mouat and Dodds came unstuck at the hands of Jennifer Jones and Brent Laing in an 8-4 defeat to begin their campaign in Gangneung, South Korea.
It was a slow start to Scotland's bid for a third straight world mixed doubles title.
But newly-crowned world champions Mouat and Dodds bounced back by beating Denmark 7-1 to make it one win and one loss on the first day of action.
"It was a good bounce-back game which gave us a lot of confidence going into the rest of the week," said Dodds.
"We know we're going to have some tough games, but if we keep performing the way we did there we're going to be in a pretty good spot.
"So, it is a long week, but I think it's a good start."
Australia's Tahli Gill and Dean Hewitt, cult heroes in their home country for their appearance at the Winter Olympics in Beijing, started with two wins from two.
Their second win came over Italy and Stefania Constantini, who won gold in Beijing with Amos Mosaner but is now partnered by Sebastiano Arman.
