The Health and Social Care Select Committee is again taking up a large part of my week. On Tuesday morning we have our fourth evidence session on the inquiry on assisted dying and on Wednesday we have arranged a one-off evidence session on vaping, responding to concerns of its increased prevalence among children. Before that, later today, I’ll be attending an event to celebrate the achievements of Sheffield Hallam University and mark the retirement of the current Vice-Chancellor Professor Chris Husbands with whom I’ve worked closely. Also during the week I’ll be meeting the Deputy Heads of Mission of the Benelux and Nordic Embassies to discuss our post-Brexit relationship with the rest of Europe, attending a meeting with the APPG for Kashmir at which I am seeking re-election as a Vice-Chair, and taking part in a roundtable organised by YACHAD with a leading Israeli human rights lawyer to discuss the current situation in Israel and Palestine.Among other things when back in Sheffield at the end of the week I’ll be meeting with the City Council and Sheffield College to discuss local sixth form provision.
