England have failed to score for a third match in a row ahead of their World Cup campaign in Australia and New Zealand. The Lionesses had previously held to a goalless draw against Canada. The match took place behind closed doors in Queensland as Sarina Wiegman’s side continue their preparation for the tournament which begins on July 20.
England have now gone three games without a goal after drawing 0-0 against Canada as they continue their preparation for the Women’s World Cup.
In a practice game behind closed doors in Queensland, Sarina Wiegman utilised 21 members of her squad as the Lionesses endured a second successive goalless tie.
It is reported that Bethany England was the only outfield player not used by Wiegman, despite a return of 13 goals in 11 games in the second half of last season for Tottenham Hotspur.
In their two previous two outings, they drew with Portugal after they were beaten by co-hosts Australia 2-0.
No caps were awarded for the fixture as unlimited roll-on roll-off substitutions were used in England’s final warm-up before the tournament gets underway.
The 2022 European champions will be looking to quickly rediscover the form that brought them silverware under the Wembley arch last summer.
They open their World Cup campaign against Haiti on Saturday 22 July, and also face Denmark and China in Group D.
