Unbeaten Jakob Ingebrigsten breaks his own European 1500m record, Akani Simbinewon triumphs in men's 100m

It was another memorable day for Jakob Ingebrigsten, who beat his own record in the European 1500m at the Silesia Diamond League in Poland. The Moroccan, Hicham El Guerrouj, holds the current 1500m record with his time of 3:26.00. Ingebrigsten is fourth in the all-time list with his time of 3:27.14 seconds. Attention now turns to the next Diamond League meeting in Monaco this Friday.

Jakob Ingebrigsten broke his own record in the European 1500m at the Silesia Diamond League in Poland.
The 22-year-old won in 3:27.14 to beat the record he set at the Diamond League meeting in Oslo by 0.81 seconds.
It continued a fantastic year for Ingebrigsten as he extended his unbeaten run ahead of the World Championships in Budapest next month.
"This result was the best I could hope for today," said Ingebrigsten in quotes published by BBC Sport.
"You cannot always think about records. Today, I wanted one, but I will now be focusing completely on getting ready for the World Championships."
The Norwegian is now the fourth-fastest man in history over 1500m, with Moroccan Hicham El Guerrouj holding the record in a time of 3:26.00.
Elsewhere, Akani Simbinewon won the men’s 100m in a time of 9.97 seconds in a thrilling end to the race.
It was the South African’s second successive Diamond League victory, with only two hundredths of a second separating the top four.
The American reigning world champion Fred Kerley came second in his first loss of the season, while the podium was completed by Cameroonian Emmanuel Eseme with a time of 9.98 seconds.
Meanwhile, Kerley’s compatriot Cravont Charleston narrowly missed out on a podium finish with a time of 9.99 seconds.
"I know I am the first to beat Fred this year," Simbine said. "We have a good friendship, a good rivalry. I am very satisfied with my performance and hope to continue my good form."
American Sha'Carri Richardson was victorious in the women’s 100m, winning with a time of 10.76 to beat Jamaican Shericka Jackson by two hundredths of a second.
She said: "I love the time. I put a great race together. This was a great competition - it was amazing. I executed correctly."
The men’s 400m was won by the South African and world record-holder Wayde van Niekerk with his fastest time of the year at 44.08.
Venezuelan Yulimar Rojas won the women’s triple jump with his longest jump of the year, with a distance of 15.18m.
Meanwhile, French pole vault world record holder Armand Duplantis cleared 6.01m to beat the American Sam Kendricks.
Attention now turns to the next Diamond League meeting in Monaco this Friday.
