The Blinn College District Music Department will host “An Afternoon of Mahler: Three Orchestral Song Cycles for Voice and Piano” on Saturday, Oct. 7.

The faculty recital will be held at 2 p.m. in the C.F. Schmidt Building’s Finke Recital Hall, located at 800 College Avenue (map) on the Brenham Campus. It will feature Dr. Daniel Johnson, Blinn Voice and Choir Professor and lyric baritone, and pianist Pamela Connolly.

Free tickets are open to the public at www.blinn.edu/boxoffice. The recital also will be streamed on the Music Department YouTube Channel.

“We are excited to present an outstanding schedule of vocal recitals this fall,” said Todd Quinlan, Performing Arts Department Head. “Kicking it off will be ‘An Afternoon of Mahler,’ featuring the works of composer and conductor Gustav Mahler and performances by several of our talented faculty members.”

Blinn’s Music Department offers small classes, one-on-one attention, practical learning, and accessible faculty so that students are actively engaged in a superior learning environment. Students can pursue an Associate of Arts Degree in Music that provides a solid foundation in the creative and technical aspects of music, including music theory, history, composition, and performance.
