ARSON CHARGE: Jacquez T. Sims, 47, Chicago, was booked into the Will County jail Tuesday on a two-count felony charge of arson and criminal damage to property, according to sheriff’s records online. The charge stems from an Aug. 1 fire that caused more than $10,000 damage, according to court records online.

Evergreen Park

AGGRAVATED BATTERY: Kevin H. Whitfield, 64, Chicago, was accused of resisting arrest and aggravated battery to a police officer after kicking an officer in the leg Jan. 22 at OSF Little Company of Mary Medical Center, where he was taken from a parking lot disturbance in the 2400 block of 95th Street, police said.

Frankfort

FUGITIVE WARRANT: Officers served James C. Krout, 49, 1500 block of Ambassador Lane, Ford Heights, with a warrant during a Jan. 21 retail theft investigation at Home Depot, 20101 La Grange Road, police said. Krout is charged in Lake County, Indiana with armed robbery and two counts of criminal confinement while armed with a deadly weapon in connection with a Nov. 23 event.

Frankfort Square

ARMED ROBBERY: Almarion J. Evans, 19, 7700 block of Sterling Drive, Frankfort Square, was arrested Jan. 18 on a warrant charging him with three counts of armed robbery stemming from the May 4 holdup of a Speedway gas station, 19730 Harlem Ave., according to the Will County sheriff’s office and court records online. Four masked males entered the store at 2:24 a.m., one with a handgun, police said. The four took $95 from the cash register as well as tobacco products, lighters and liquor, but didn’t physically harm the lone employee, police said. Evans remained in the Will County jail Wednesday without bail, sheriff’s records show.

Monee

AGGRAVATED BATTERY: A former fast-food employee who allegedly carried gasoline-soaked cloths into the store and sprayed fire retardant on employees was arrested Jan. 25 on a warrant, according to police. Terrell L. Ferrell, 25, Chicago, is charged with aggravated battery, arson, burglary and criminal damage to property in connection with the July 6 event at Culver’s on Monee-Manhattan Road east of Interstate 57, according to police and Will County court records online. Several employees were treated for exposure to the spray and the store was closed for cleanup, losing an estimated $10,000 in potential revenue, police said.

AGGRAVATED BATTERY: Thomas J. Wood III, 32, Manteno, was arrested and accused of three counts of aggravated battery to a police officer and resisting arrest during a Jan. 25 domestic battery investigation in the 24000 block of Governors Highway, according to the Will County sheriff’s office. Wood was also accused of possessing a stolen motor vehicle after deputies determined the vehicle he’d been driving had been reported stolen out of Alsip, sheriff’s police said.

ILLEGAL GUN: Omarion D. Clair, 21, first block of Apache Street, Park Forest, was taken into custody Friday on an Illinois State Police warrant charging him with aggravated discharge of a firearm/occupied vehicle and aggravated discharge of a firearm/lacking state firearm credentials on Dec. 8, 2022, according to court and sheriff’s records online.

Oak Lawn

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY: Investigators found a lower-level window forced out of its frame during a Jan. 22 burglary investigation at a home on Massasoit Avenue. The resident reported cash stolen and his kitchen ransacked.

Palos Hills

DUI CRASH: Marek Knutelski, 55, 7700 block of Garden Lane, Justice, was arrested and accused of drunken driving for a Jan. 23 crash in the 8800 block of 103rd Street, police said.

Steger

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT: Archie D. Dent, 18, undisclosed address, Chicago Heights, was arrested and accused of aggravated assault and resisting arrest Dec. 30, after threatening an officer while refusing to leave an apartment building in the 400 block of West Steger Road, police said.

SHOTS FIRED: Tenants escaped injury Jan. 22 at Linden Apartments, 300 W. Steger Road, when at least one shot was fired through a second-floor window, police said.

FRAUD CHARGED: Don L. Wiley, 52, 2200 block of Wolpers Road, Park Forest, was taken into custody on an outstanding arrest warrant during a felonious vehicle stop Friday at Steger and Chicago roads, police said. Wiley, a passenger in a vehicle reported stolen out of Summit, is scheduled to appear at a March 1 preliminary hearing on a three-count felony charge, according to Will County circuit court records. His burglary and two-count forgery charge stem from Oct. 19 in Frankfort, court records show.

Tinley Park

ARMED ROBBERY: A Chicago man accused of carjacking a vehicle at gunpoint in July 2021 was scheduled to return to court Thursday for the first time since his parole on an unrelated conviction, according to Will County circuit court records online. Tavion L. Hodges, 24, is charged with armed robbery with a firearm, armed robbery without a firearm, aggravated vehicular hijacking involving a passenger younger than 16 and aggravated vehicular hijacking with a firearm, court records show. Hodges was released from prison Jan. 10 and transferred to the Will County jail, where he was being held Wednesday.
