Afrobeats sensation Fireboy DML recently shared his desire to release a heartbreak-inspired album after he drops an upcoming one.

In a tweet on his X handle this Tuesday, Fireboy said, “Album roll out don start like this. After this one, I’ll go on a vacation and try to find whoever’s gonna inspire the heartbreak album that will follow.” he said.

Fireboyhad argued that Afrobeats was just “vibes” and lacked lyrics with depth.

He said, “The Afrobeats scene before I came in. It was built on vibes. But I realised that there was something lacking, and that was pure soul and lyricism in our music. That was what I brought into the game. That’s why I call it Afro-Life — it’s Afrobeats that has some depth to it.”

The singer clarified that his upcoming project is centred around the theme of heartbreak, and he wants to delve into the emotional experience firsthand before crafting his next musical masterpiece.

Fireboy has been dropping hints about his fourth studio album, slated for release later this year. Fans eagerly await more details, such as the album title, release date, tracklist, and featured artists.

In an interview with Billboard in February, the singer also said he was interested in going into acting.

“I am also going into the movie industry. Yeah, I am going to be acting. My people have always said that I am a dramatic young man. I mean, I know being dramatic does not equate to knowing how to act but I do know how to act. I have acted in a couple of music videos. I can’t let this gift [acting talent] waste.”
