The winner of the Nigeria versus South Africa last qualifying encounter next month will be in the tournament’s Group C to face reigning world champions, Spain, the 2004 and 2008 silver medalists, Brazil, as well as London 2012 silver medalists, Japan.

The winner of the game between Morocco and Zambia in the second qualifying tie will face four-time Olympic champions, United States of America (USA), European silver-medallists, Germany, as well as recent FIFA Women’s World Cup co-hosts, Australia in Group B.

There are 12 teams of three groups in the competition, with the top two teams in each of the three groups, as well as the best third place finishers advancing to the quarterfinals.

The women’s football event of the Olympics will begin on July 25 with Canada and Colombia meeting at the Geoffrey Guichard stadium in Saint-Etienne.
